Autumn in Pays de Bray: cider, cheese and forests

Pays de Bray countryside in autumn near Domaine Majorelle

Autumn reveals another side of the Pays de Bray: forests turning color, hearty meals and lively markets. The heated pool closes at the end of September, but the large living room with fireplace at Domaine Majorelle takes over for quiet weekends.

On the cheese and cider route

The Pays de Bray is the birthplace of Neufchâtel, Normandy's oldest AOP cheese, easily recognized by its heart shape. The Normandy Cheese Route lists producers to visit in the region, worth pairing with a stop at local cider and pommeau makers.

Forest walks

Norman forests turn warm colors in October and November. The trails around Bois de l'Épinay and the loops listed by the Forges-les-Eaux tourist office offer lovely walks just minutes from the estate.

Market and producers

The Thursday and Sunday morning markets in Forges-les-Eaux remain a great starting point for an autumn meal built around Pays de Bray produce, listed in the Bray Gourmand guide.
